I wasn't expecting too see sanity dominate on a comment section on this site, but I am relieved to see that it still survives. There are many problematic characters in these stories, but it is possible to feel sympathetic to them to a certain extent within a limited context. So, for example, non-con should get you thrown in prison in real life but when written into these stories, it is often written with a lot of caveats such as it not being written seriously as a non con event but instead a contrived device to get the two leads together, so it's only non-con to an objective observer but from a writer's perspective, the person we view as a "victim" was never a "victim" but rather a consenting participant who wanted it. Still disgusting that this trope is used because of how it might influence young readers in real life, but at least, within the context of the story, the writer will put in a million ifs and buts that will dilute the weight of the event.
Just like there are two kinds of pedophilia in manhas. One is actually jail worthy and the other, defensible within the context of artistic depiction. The first is the kind where characters actually look and behave their age and the story actually uses the inherent power and knowledge gap between an adult and a minor as a plot device. The second are the kind of stories where if not for character description mentioning it, you wouldn't be able to figure out that there is an age gap intended between the characters and you'd forget it again if it stopped coming up in dialogue occassionally. Again, the second case is still objectively problematic, but if the way it is depicted in the story makes it feel like a peer relationship, then, it is possible to suspend disbelief.
But in this there are no ifs and buts to justify their mc committing something as heinous fratricide for no reason but the fact that he coveted his sister's fiance. He has no excuses. Usually when stories want you to feel sympathetic towards a character that kills their family without nearly loosing their mind out of remorse and grief, they either make it clear that these people have circumstances that make them feel too distant and unrelated to be really considered family, or that the one person had hurt the other in a truly horrendous manner that would dissolve something as strong as a kinship bond. Here there was nothing of the sort. Dude is just a monster who killed his sister in order to get into a guy's pants. There is nothing redeemable about him. The only way you can read such stories is when you know in advance that such an inhumane character will get a comeuppance just an inhumane and will be duly chastised by the voice of the story itself.
I hate the little brother, just dropped it at the first few episodes. Like come on man wtf, ITS YOUR SISTER’S FIANCE AND YOU TRIED TO KILL HER. He doesnt fucking deserve anything lol, dont know how the black haired guy would like him but ok.
