Most aphrodisiacs simply cause placebo effects. That is, you feel more sexually aroused because you believe you should be since you took it. Aside from that, they mostly tend to raise the temperature of your body or create scents that remind you of sexual activity to "get you in the mood". Medically, this is all they are proven to do. I guess since it's a fantasy world we can assume it's some special thing that does exist, but it's funny since it's based around a real life thing that doesn't actually work. XD
so it's only a mood and not the 'im hungry I want to eat, can't control my desire for you, I might force you' chuchu.ヽ༼⁰o⁰；༽ノ

That's not how aphrodisiacs work at all... But go off I guess. XD It's ridiculous but kind of funny how fantasy stories use aphrodisiacs like this.
