I think when he said "my shoulders were wet" he meant that the uke cried in the end. i think he fell too much in love with the other and isn't happy of the end of the world anymore...
Yes! at that moment when his tear fell he probably thought " I don't want it to end after all".

This makes so much sense! The uke had his Happy Ending. What he wanted to see most was the world ending from that balcony. He died happily w a smile on his face being embraced by the person he loved most in the place he loved most.
