i think it was kind of spur of the moment decision. he doesn't know if he'll win the battle against whatever is gonna come out the gate so he's passing the time doin stuff he hasn't really had a chance to do yet or in a while or whatevs...
in this case, he decides to go on a date and she's his only female friend so...
samee i think the same way too since he told himself that if that is the end who would he call for the last time
This date feels kinda weird since it didn't look like he was much interested in her before but I don't mind them being together either
