That's exactly what I think too! . I explained my theory in the comments. He is a little player and he wants to take what he can of the prosecutor because he is interested in him (he causing him and makes proposals in exchange for his testimony) but I really feel like he has done and that he seeks to prove who is behind all that.
Like, his lips smile (cheerful smile and psychopath) but his eyes show other things, I sometimes even feel that it's sadness.

this is just a guess but i think ha ideun's not involve in any "illegal activities" he's being condemned for and i think he's somewhat an ally to the prosecutor and the reason why he helps them idk yet ಠ﹏ಠ
