Hes a very tragic character. Cant bring myself to hate him either

could you explain to my how sid is a good character? do you mean his personality or the “character of an antagonist”? I’m genuinely curious because I can’t really seem to grasp him that well, he seems very evil but somewhat manipulated too? I kinda feel bad for him but I just can’t stand him - but I’m worried that there is something I’m missing about him!

I’m just putting my two cent in here, sorry. Anyway I think the author made Sid to be a more complicated character so people hate him or they like him. Some feel mixed emotions like me. The people who liked him like this user must have been intrigued the very first time Sid was introduced in the story. I can’t deny that all the characters look really cool and that includes Sid’s design. He is supposed to look slender, feminine, and pretty. So with her shitty demeanor, he looks like a cool antagonist. He has done ALOT of horrible things especially to that poor cop but I think a lot of ppl still can’t fully hate on him because he also has a side of him that is sympathetic and lonely. I’m sure with that added, people can either relate or understand where he comes from. I’m sure they aren’t justifying his actions/Behavior but they simply can’t hate on him because his actions have influenced so much by other factors such as his evil eyes that continue to brainwash him. In the end ...in a way that’s difficult to understand, he is also a victim? For me I hated everything he did in the past and doing now but I do hope he gets a redemption because it seems like he can change who knows maybe I’m wrong but there is hope. Alright dude that’s it. This is my perspective on why ppl continue to like Sid. Hope this helps even alittle.

Hi there, don’t apologize for adding your two cents! I understand what you mean with all this, I kinda thought the same. I feel like sid has a pretty common antagonistic character design, his actions are all evil but his circumstances are somewhat pitiful - which doesn’t justify anything he does ofc just like you said so i do get that some people would still like him because of this. I don’t know if you have read “Back to school” but I also liked the “antagonist” Jihyun - not because I like HIM but I liked the CHARACTER. So evil and so pitiful haha!

I was just wondering if there was anything he had done that seemed “good” about him. I was worrying that I had missed something from the plot OO I honestly hope that Sid is being manipulated by something - his past self seemed to be very friendly with Cain after all :( i really liked reading your explanation, it was well thought out and expressed! ok so the other person pretty much just explained everything anyway BUT i enjoy sids character just as it is. i'm not a person to shit on or dislike a character if they do things wrong, and of course i do have my own limits to how much i can tolerate before a character just becomes .. gross and unlikeable. and a lot of times, i do find myself liking characters out of spite. (usually if and when they're unpopular for one reason but another character who has done the same doesn't receive the same treatment) like here, sid raped his door, yes, but so did cain. and no one talks about that, but those same people who love cain will vilify sid despite their beloved character having done the exact same thing. unfair imo.

Cain is not being treated the same as Sid for several reasons. First he is the main character and people don’t really care what happens in the story as long as him and the uke is getting closer. Although, both did horrible things in the beginning, it’s more about how Cain and Sid continue to develop and progress throughout the story. Sid is the antagonist and other than his sympathetic background moments, we haven’t seen him do that much good. Throughout the story whether we like or not, Sid has been assaulting and raping the cop dude in a constant loop. Not only that, he has been mentally torturing the dude so much and I’m pretty sure u can see the trauma on the cops face. I would say Cain is just bad for even laying a finger on the Uke but u gotta know that ...alot of readers are willing to accept as long as a character like Cain does good later on. It doesn’t excuse anything but one thing we can say is that ppl are more forgiving than u think. I’m pretty sure even in the end, if Sid has a redemption and even dies a tragic death, more people are willing to accept his character as for what it is at the end. Sid could have been easily a likable antagonist from the start but throughout the story, he continued to show the same behavior by doing horrible thing over and over again.

jokes aside, thanks for sharing your opinion though I’m really interested in other peoples view about sid since he’s such an interesting character. I was curious about if sid has actually done something “good” throughout the story, but I guess a lot of people just like his “evilness” and feel sorry for him im a way thus sympathizing for him. I do see myself often feeling like that too haha!

and no need to be so rude all the time? @mango wasn’t even rude to begin with and I was acting silly towards you as a joke but you are taking it too serious just because someone doesn’t like your fave character I mean compared to the 1 chapter of Cain doing shit, you wanna compare it to sid abusing the friend for multiple chapters? no need to be so pressed about all the hate towards him as the author probably intended it to be this way to deepen his character even further. The revelation of his intentions is going to be more impactful as more readers feel strong emotions towards him. Cheer up :)
