If I'm not mistaken they died . At first Dev thought about saving them but then he learned that they died and he was depressed that he couldn't protect them.

I'm sorry if I missed something but did they ever find Dev's mom and sister? I mean, that was his main objective from the beginning but why didn't the author let them reunite in the end?
