It’s a little rare to find a MC to be cocky or not hide their skills but it’s not entirely common either
Yeah I find the whole I have to hide my skills trend cringe LOL it’s giving “I’m different..but they can’t know” it’s like whyyy
Well for starters he doesnt have Roman's memories and doesnt know shiț about that world
Although he did what he did, most times its better to be underestimated especially when you're not at your best or dont want to have to deal with bothersome things( when you stand out..you will have to deal with things like that, whether you want to or not)
So until he was atleast at a strength with which he felt confident with, hiding and not standing out is strongly recommended
Well for starters people can go on their own paths and that doesn’t mean hiding their strength and whatever it’s cringe it’s a repeated plot theme and it’s not needed cause eventually they show it and it really doesn’t add much to the plot half the time. Its a smart move and if you've ever gambled you know that its not wise to show all your cards at the start of the game
The point is it’s a overused plot theme and it’s not entertaining again and again, not every story has to have a MC who hides their abilities. well he is still is underestimated. mc grew up to be the best and he lived his life as the strongest so he doesn’t think it’s necessary to hide his skills. it’s just not his way of doing things.
