Why do you think she called her cousin her father? Her father is Gaius Lipelle. Her cousin is Gales Lipelle.

Go see to chapter 5. When she entered the room where her aunt and her cousin were, she said "I greet father and aunt" and even after that she addressed him with the phrase "father" a few more times (￣∇￣")
If it was once I would think it was a translation error, but she said it several times

Her father is the current emperor. Because he used his wife and her father as a stepping stone.

I've read 1 chapter 3 times already, and I still don't grasp their family. It's so messed up. If Gaius is her father then why is he so mean to her and afraid that she'll overthrow him and take throne?

Paris is Appolonia's half-brother.

FL’s dad’s original wife was killed by FL’s grandfather(the emperor at the time). Mary’s female leads mum, the princess, in hopes of being king. The FL’s dad got himself a son, from a mistress,who’s raised as FL’s Mom’s mutual son.
He then kills both his wife, and Emperor, because the one that holds the emperor position is normally chosen by the princess. But the princess(fL’s mom) rejected that title. He then makes HIMSELF the emperor, against ALL rules, claims it’s temporary till someone of real blood is available for the monarchy position, in this case it’s the FL, but the people include her step bro because he was introduced as a legitimate child of FL’s mom, giving him that blood needed to inherit the monarch.
SO dad basically wants to wipe out the previous royal blood line and insert himself in as revenge. Which is why he keeps trying to get rid of his daughter to fAR away princess. Litterally dudes who have no business in his kingdom. One way ticket to send her away.
The aunt is also power hungry and has direct contact with the FL so she plays a crucial role. But do note that the FL’s dad (the current emperor) put all his relatives in power.
