Just make sure your partner really knows what he/she is doing. A person can do a lot of serious injury even without bruising, and you may not even know it till the complications come up later. Find someone experienced and good at it, or save it for fanfic. :)
And I agree with the OP.
I myself like some strangulation as well (receiving it) so the direction I hope this doesn't take is, "Oh I love you, now I won't strangle you." kinda thing and that's the happy ending. Both tender, deep love and BDSM can coexists in a healthy relationship. Strangulation kink is not for everyone but it's not an evil act.
