The mangaka purposefully made it so we weren't clear on who died. My bet is on the father only because, while it could be seen as a one sided conversation for the black haired character, around the end, when he said, "that's good then" and proceeded to take the blonde with him, this seems like he was there there and not in spirit. Unless the spirit will now accompany the black haired guy in life. The flowers are very important as well, they could be a condolence gift or a romantic gift but that's the beauty of the last page, we don't know. Great read to dissect nonetheless
