It was explained in previous chapters why he can't show favor or emotion to his children...it does seem like he favors the mc but he still kinda treats her the same...even tho he's using the rules as excuses to be affectionate to her he still isn't showing that much that you'd go overboard as to saying he totally prefers her.
And in his defence she's the one who shows most potential overall after the first and second princes as such a young age plus you can't deny she's the most adorable
