Yep, but what I also like is that the author kind acknowledges it. She never tried to paint her bad characters as good, and the MCs are aware of this, they are getting groomed or tricked.
Which is closer to reality nowadays. Something that everyone in the situation should ponder but this story is just starting, somewhere along the way surely we will find answers and closures, development is also a key factor.

for extreme uneven power dynamic in relationships. Which, in reality, is the foundation of toxic relationships. I don't mind reading about it, but would not certainly ever involve myself in one.
