i think it's bc it's not easy to leave the palace, especially since there's no-one on her side, also her father would properly hunt her down and make her stay before he finds out who exactly is the most powerful child from the prophecy. Likely many spies and eyes watching her, also hard to survive outside as a child, plus her features seem to be recognisable (mage guessed she was the princess), so if she escapes she would be easily caught back and then would be targeted and lose her disguise.
