I agree with her denseness, I've been trudging along though because I love seeing things from the villains side. My hope was that after she got past her initial shock of seeing a dead body being dragged through the house and got closer to her new husband and son that she'd see that yes they are in dire need of love and warmth but what the Duke does as the shadow to the emperor helps keep the nation in check, that easing up on poison training was good but it's not a bad idea to have immunity to most poisons, and if she was more in the gray she would be trusted with more insider knowledge because they think she can't handle it and will run.
