You can't think straight in that situation if you were the father. He's been traumatized due to his wife's past ordeals. You'd think he wouldn't jump head first if it was about his children. MC will never take the guy hostage since he isn't under-handed and manipulative. That's how the've been built as characters.

Except for the mother, MC and his father are too reckless. His father went straight into the trap after reading an unknown message without thinking twice and MC left his enemy there before confirm what he said.
