Generally, drinking caffeine before sleep prevents the body from resting. Therefore, the person ends up feeling horrible from the lack of sleep or the difficulty of sleeping.

There are some people who do not get energized from caffeine but unless you’re apart of that small percentage, you’re more likely to just stay awake.

My mother gets sleepy from coffee. I hate coffee so I’ve never drunken enough to feel anything other than disgust but I’ve tried an energy drink once. It made me feel tired. It was a similar feeling to when I have something very sugary, rather than having a sugar rush, my body just instantly feels heavy and sleepy.
