It's a reincarnation story, something clearly went wrong with the mother that caused her to die and most of the time the "main character" in reincarnation stories don't realize the worth of important people until it's too late. So I think it makes sense that the mother now knows what's truly important and is trying to make up for that. I agree she had to actually Apologize and what-not but I think when more stories are uploaded...well see everything that truly happened to the mother
