Whilst normally the age gap would be okay between adults, both of them are minors. One, however, is a teenager (presumably 16 years of age) whilst the other is a toddler (presumably 7 years of age at most). It’s not just an age gap anymore, nor is it just a preference anymore. Think whatever you want, but I will not act like this manga isn’t repulsing. What does it matter if the kid acts more mature? He’s a child regardless. I will not deny the fact that he has more sense than most adults, but that doesn’t make his age a double digit.
Follow along this manga all you want, but don’t defend it. The author possesses common sense, they *know* that this is wrong, but they still went through with it. They’ve written and drawn a pedophilic manga. What’s stopping them from doing it again? What if it’s even a larger age gap next time? Or what if the kid isn’t “mature” and doesn’t understand anything yet?

I did not mean to defend the author or help to justify using children as love interests. So you are fully right in hating this story in that sense.

As a sidenote, other than pedophilia/grooming, this author often seems to want the uke in a situation where they get (sexually) abused or even raped to make the story more tragic, which I'm also not fan of. (It may be some way for the author to try and make us sympathize with the older guy and justify falling in love with an innocent child since adults are evil, cunning and repulsive?)

I've read too much shitty BL that I've developed my brain to the point of willingly sidestepping actual morally bad things if I want to ((rape, sibling love, too young kids, victim blaming, abuse and the list goes on)) if the story or the characters are otherwise good and/or interesting enough.
