Is what y'all be thinking, but I honestly don't think he is stupid. No one in this book is dumb lmao. MC and ML are definitely not the best at communication, but you can tell ML is trying his best. MC is naive and pure, but he is also stubborn. Poor dude can't let go of the fact that he is partially the reason the village burned and many people died. It's not that he doesn't believe ML loves him, it's that he doesn't believe he is good enough for ML since he is not a "hero"/the best anymore.
Im more pissed at the demon king because he doesn't take no for an answer. If you love him you should be able to take his answer and leave him alone. He clearly doesn't.
