The secretary did, yes, but not the ML. The MC should have still reminded the ML one time because their circumstances as a couple aren't normal. He doesn't know for sure that the ML would know his birthday so why not confirm in advance?
You never mentioned it was your birthday, right? How was he supposed to know?
