Actually they didn't tell lies. Shin told their boss the real reason but he told Yeonwoo otherwise to make Yeonwoo less guilty. their boss knew who is Shin but keep it as secret. You can read the chapter that they were glad Yeonwoo work there (since a dominant alpha chaebol work there to follow Yeonwoo)
