guys pls. this is literally just a silly little web comic. it’s funny at times. infuriating during the next. however it’s JUST a webtoon. it’s not real. these characters are not real people and their actions /do not/ reflect an actual relationship. like plsss let’s just have fun there’s plenty of webtoons where the focus is a healthy-ish relationship portrayal. however this one is not that. and that’s fine! if u don’t like that stop reading. bc it’s obvious in the first chapter as to what the story will be like

+ to expect characters to not be morally grey, like most actual people are, is absurd. and also not entertaining at all, at least to me. like gimme some drama. give me some asshole behavior. make it interesting (obviously i’m not referring to the ml’s more non-con actions, those can’t be excused and we could have gone without them)

girl. there's a difference between being morally grey and being a homophobic entitled dick that is supposed to be a protagonist in a yaoi (written by a straight woman). There is a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long history of women writing about assholes that needs to be conquered, but bigotry being part of the shtick is pretty far fetched. Imagine a love story being about a black woman who dates and has sex with a white racist person. Not as a fringe fetish thing, but as a mass produced novel that teen girls read. That would be in bad taste now wouldn't it? How is this different?

I do not agree with a lot of the criticism, but people are allowed to have opinions about the media they consume. It's good to have discussions about what you read no matter if it's porn or not. Thinking and talking about what we read is an intrinsic part of the experience. That is part of how the genre evolves or gets better (or worse sometimes ugh..).

For me this webtoon is kinda trashy in many ways but the angst in it is addictive, which is what pulls me back to it. (Though, I stopped paying for the actual chapters since I am quite literally done with plots about bottoms fixing ginormous assholes with their magical abyss of a hole and only read it here). I am however STILL allowed to complain about the tropes the story perpetuates, because those thoughts are part of my reading experience, and part of my own growth as a reader whose taste evolves, as well as the genre's.

id say it is very different, because sexuality and race aren’t the same thing and comparing the two is a very slippery slope i wouldn’t go on. the homophobic-turned-lgbt trope has been around for ages, even in movies, tv series, etc. its much more widely known, and although i do agree if it isn’t done well, it is in bad taste, most people are desensitized to it now.

i never said you couldn’t have discussions about the things you read! of course you should. i don’t agree with the criticism simply because it’s all criticism. for me, if i had nothing positive to say about some content i am consuming, i would drop it. there’s no point to read something if all i have are negatives thoughts surrounding it. that’s what bothered me.

i respect your opinion, and obviously i am merely a reader as everyone else is, so don’t take this comment so seriously. it was mostly said because i go into the comments expecting to see some remarks about what is actually going on in the comic, not just endless negativity, which i, again, understand why it is there, but don’t understand why there is a need to constantly comment on it when you could just drop it. however you said you’ve dropped it and still are allowed to criticize it, which i assume now is probably the opinion of most individuals here, so maybe i’m just a diff type of person LOL

again, my comment was not saying you couldn’t have a negative opinion on things that happen in this comic! my thought process was merely that it’s quite literally 90% criticism, which, as someone who doesn’t hate this comic, was a little disheartening to see

yeah i get that that gets tiring, I experience this kind of fatigue as well, especially if I'm excited to discuss something and people are stuck on the shitty parts and talk of nothing else and forums feel like an endless echoing valley of negativity lol. I have this with stories where someone is cheating or has cheated, which in a story is not a deal breaker for me cause I like problematic bitches but holy shit do ppl lose their minds about it lol.

Also, sure racism and homophobia is very different, but I mean it's all bigotry that has to do with hegemonic ways of thinking (patriarchal, heteronormative, white supremacist etc). To give an example from the story, the seme makes fun of the uke for not being able to get married (which.. ????) How is that different from someone in the 60s making fun of a black person in america for not being able to go into "whites only" spaces? The trope of homophobe-turned-LGBT is harmful in itself, but even that could be worked with more nuance than this I'd argue even for comedy's sake. The trope of a straight man being attracted to a woman only to find out shes trans and being initially disgusted and throwing up (or worse) is also huuuuge, doesn't mean if someone drew a webcomic with that today that would be cool because it's a long running thing about queer relationships.

I want to stress tho if you enjoy this story that doesnt make you a bigot, and anyone who says so needs to chill lol. People have this need to moralize their content consumption these days, as if everything you consume has to show that you are a "good" person. Problematic shit can still be fun and for that to be ok. You are not making any impact by only consuming "righteous" content, you are an activist when you actually go out into the streets and learn how to enforce direct action!!!

Anyways hope u have a good one girlie read on!
