The placebo effect is basically like tricking someone. Using the pill as an example, he told him it would calm his nerves, when really it was just a vitamin pill. Since he believed the pill Mr. Woo gave him was some pill to call his nerves, his mind sort of trick him into not feeling as nervous.
It’s sort of hard to explain, but if you look it up that’ll give a better explanation.
Like if you tell someone that some sort of “special water” will reenergize you or increase your performance, their minds will then be like “oh I drank this, so I have more energy now” when really they don’t because it was plain ass water you can get from a sink. Kinda like manipulation but in a caring way
