I too see this is what the author is attempting to do but as you said it doesn’t work organically and and certainly not with Ulysses purposely having Randolph witness a sex act he didn’t consent to and apparently make this the catalyst for a “ loving relationship” between a trauma hardened polyamorous sexual sadist and some angry unresolved trauma victim man child and tie it a ith a bow. It’s actually ridiculous if you read it at face value, but that is the nature of stories written about pretty man having sex together.

Hmmm even until now, I never got sold of the Sys x Randolph couple...
Maybe cuz(imo) Randolph is exuding being monogamous meanwhile Sys loves having a harem...
And I don't think one should force someone of their ideals, noh?
I know what author is trying to do here, exploring different kind of love but for this couple, it's a puzzle being forced to fit... I also don't feel any chemistry between them...
I'll just skip this side of the story... I'm more invested in the main couple and their daughter's journey...
