His backstory was not to make Jooin feel sympathy but to explain why he reacted the way he did when Jooin almost got hit by a car. As it's been stated in chapter 80, Jooin was curious to why Yahwi reacted the way he did, and Yahwi explained why by mentioning his past trauma. It was not to get pity but more to explain why he's like this.
Your past trauma is not an excuse to cause pain to other people. Join felt that way though, that Yahwi is looking for sympathy.
