Same here! I think the author did him bad…If the story in ss1 started with Brian then ss2 his reincarnation as Ian, I might not feel like ‘I am reading a different person story’…
But now that I am attached to Ian, I just see Brian as a complete different character

Knowing this author, I think that's what they wanted? Especially since Ian (from before the flashbacks started) said something along the lines that he'll never be Brian, even if he regains Brian's memories? (I might not be remembering right). And that they're completely two different people with different life experiences regardless if they have the "same soul".

true, i think the author really wanted us to feel Ian's point that 'Brian aint me, despite all the story'
