You should've given it a few more chapters. As soon as he actually moves to the other village it shows you how progressive the other clan is in comparison to the one MC is originally from. MLs clan is all about equality and they are more in contact with other clans as well. So basically the author wanted you to think the same way as MC but then flip it on you that rumors don't always hold up

So dramatic the story isn’t even like that ever heard of a plot twist? The losers feel like females because that’s the rumours they’ve heard in their own village that they will be mistreated by the shark people and made to breed. When in reality the shark village is nothing like that and they’re free to explore other islands and come in contact with other people and have any job they like they don’t have to sit around making babies all day. They actually more freedom than on their own island.

There is more to why the mindset is that way too. Something about the history between the two clans that goes deeper than it should and the MC's clan created this system to keep smth in order. We havent gotten far into it yet but the chief leaders themselves don't want that kind of mindset in their clans but they have no choice or smth. Idk.
