Stop the Sasha Hate

Are we reading the same story? There is so much hate towards Sasha when it’s unwarranted. In the beginning Sasha was an infatuation for Karel…Sasha had no intentions of being with him romantically, he was only worried about his well being and ballet. For Karel it was love at first sight and he wanted to have Sasha for himself while not taking the time to get to know him and his situation. Don’t get me wrong, Karel was very sweet and attentive to Sasha but at the same time he only focused on what he felt was right for Sasha, and not what actually was. Sasha does end up falling for Karel but he’s stripped away from freedom in a sense. Karel doesn’t want him out of his grasp and tries to keep him caged in the house, leading Sasha to over indulge in substances. And let’s not forget none of Sasha’s problems were fixed at this point, they were being brushed over leaving his mental health to deteriorate. He was no where near ready for a relationship and wasn’t capable of accepting love or consistently showing it…Fast forward a couple years and a war, Sasha’s in a better headspace but Karel doesn’t recognize all that Sasha has been through and his growth to finally be present for a relationship. In my eyes Sasha hasn’t done any wrong…It’s just Karel’s turn to heal!
