Why are so many people sympathizing with Jin's dad?

Jin's dad is a terrible person. This story is told from the perspecetive of Jin for most of the time so yes, it is warped, but Jin's dad doesn't deserve any pity. He knows it's wrong and he understands why it's wrong, he just does it because to him he wants to "eat better" and "sleep better". There's nothing to feel about for him. Just die or rot in prison. He's killed maybe a dozen people who probably have fully functioning and happy families. He's ruined those families. He doesn't just kill them, he desecrates their bodies and tortures them. So what he loves his son? What, if I have kids and I love them you all will forgive me if I kill dozens of people because I'm 'mad'? If I look sad and have a broken family you'll feel bad for me?

The son brainwashing himself is normal. He knows his father is a terrible person, is scared he'll kill him so when he has a head accident he remembers everything as his dad doing it because he doesn't remember anything else.

ヽ(`Д´)ノ the hell...

anyway this was really good... (๑•ㅂ•)و✧idk how else to say it, but it's good (๑•ㅂ•)و✧

Interesting how you have a lot to say about Jin’s father and not Jin. Yes Jin’s father is an irredeemable POS. And yes, Jin had no choice in what his father did, but he still helped killed these women when he was able to formulate complex thought into what he was doing (e.I:what we’ve been shown through comic). And let’s be real, he had some guilt in killing the last woman, but the only reason he hesitated, was because he was thinking of the girl. And even then, it was more of flashbacks as he was about to kill the woman lol. Let’s not make it out like he’s a total victim and could do nothing . His circumstances are tragic, yes, but at some point, he knew exactly what he’s was doing, whether it be from past or impulse. He was willing to help kill another woman if that meant he could save his beloved AFTER he had his main character awakening. There’s plenty of other routes he could’ve taken against his father if he was truly concerned with his morality as a human and/or keeping the girl safe. Understandable, but not excusable

He's different because he grew up that way. He was probably around 5 when it started. He IS in jail for a reason, but it's not the same thing. He is in jail because he recognized it as bad but did not report it. But it wouldn't be fair to say that living like that for so long he should just report it. People live with their parents being abused for years, maybe even turn a blind eye and just live with it. I don't know how to describe it, but it's not pressure to do the right thing but sort of more like the pressure to do what was most natural at the time. Also, Jin WAS very much terrified of his dad, it's not like he never tried going to the police. And calling the police on your parents no matter what kind of trash they are is hard. It's just hard. You can't simply walk another path or think of another solution. You instinctively won't be able to tell someone and even if you know it is wrong you'll still follow along. In that moment when you know what you or someone else is doing is wrong, it's not about right or wrong. It's just happening and you do what you will without thinking too much because if you think too much, if you get too close then it's happening and you're doing it. Once you accept it for what it is you will realize what kind of terrible person you are and no one wants to do that. There is no "morality as a human", it's just you are there and it's the end of it. Don't think so much about it and just live with it.

Like I said, I don't know how to explain it, but in that moment or even when leading up to that moment, there is no right or wrong, nobody is human or alive or dead and you are just a potato in a sack until you've finished everything. If things go back to that time, you will just follow what you know best without considering other options because to you there is no best there is no worst or moral choice. No escape or alternate solution. You will just go back to what you know what to do, even if it is wrong, even if you are hurting someone directly, indirectly, whatever it may be. You aren't thinking when it's happening, only after.

If I thought Jin was completely innocent, I would have mentioned how he shouldn't have gone to jail. But I do think he should for the people and the families that he's helped ruin. But I do not think that it's fair to think he would think of alternate solutions that he's had a lot of choices that he didn't choose. I think, personally, that's the best part of this. Because he did have a lot of choices, but when it comes down to it, it's not really about choices that you have anymore because you see no choice. There is nothing there for you.
