Also it is a time piece. So very realistic for the era they live in. Gay people are prosecuted and discriminated against for just existing. Like jace was attacked at the dukes in party and everyone let it happen cause he’s gay. He was blacklisted from tutoring cause he was gay. Jace doesn’t want that to happen to the duke, because they have zero allies rn. I think Jace can communicate better but his fears are very realistic
