It’s cuz he took being the oldest and because the eldest son are most likely to be heir, he took being the “heir” into his delulu mind that fed to his wife and son too, unfortunately he did not get his father or mother’s humble brain.
I would understand if he was spoiled but the Patriarch was not such a man that would favor his blood over real talent. Was it fueled by his inferiority and pride, not like his pride is worthy to be mentioned. He's such a great tool to be used though hahhahaha
