I don't even understand what was the first and second rule. So basically every time she has snusnu, she makes magic happen or something? Like it breaks the rules to smush? I don't understand this anymore. Somebody explain it to me as if I'm 10
Reading comprehension of a 10 year old.... I have not read the novel, but what I understand is that the rules exist so the story keeps being the OG original story, right? The author has certain power over the characters, but their power is not above the System's power, so in creating the "rules exceptions" the reincarnated Ediths had the opportunity to break the story's og plot.
The author doesn't want this bc they don't want the main characters to grow old and die, so the exceptions were things "imposible" to do. The first is something like "make the characters do something out of character without changing the og path". Thus, it broke bc Edith did the event "kiss Killian while he's asleep" and he just right up had snusnus lol while in the og story he dismissed her.
The second rule is clear, and I will shame you on your reading skills bc its so obvious lol, "reject Killian's requests 10 times". The author thought that Edith would accept every request, or at least it would be a long time before the exception broke, but it happened really fast and everytime a exception is fulfilled, the system would grant the characters more freedom and the opportunity to act outside the story plot. So the author, enraged, tried to make an impossible exception so Edith stopped breaking them lol but the system said that the exception has to be reasonable. Thats what I understood of the story, I saw you in a lot of comments below being rude and weird to the story bc you didn't understand... maybe read it again? Pause a little and don't skim the details?
I might be a little bit rude but, it's because it stems from the frustration that female characters can take a whole bunch of abuse and just keep taking it. So basically it's like when the game says, and I'm assuming this is going by RPG rules? That if you do a certain act, like if you turn the Candlestick over and it opens the secret door? Or like she rejected him 10 times, but she just coincidentally unlocked a new thingy? Also the author has the power to take people or their souls into this new dimension? He wants to just sip over a blondie? And then make these difficult rules that are made from these other dudes that are from some other place? I don't know if there's a committee. I'm trying to understand this because I'm actually disappointed how the story is going. For one thing, she could have just broken the rules by Falling In Love With The Butler and they both run off together. That I think would have been the easiest solution but of course, she can't because she's in love with toxic dude. It seems like every rule just pops out whenever it's plugged convenient not because there's a standard set of things that she has to work around. The book is more focused on how male figures control the female figures then how clever this woman is. The story started off really strong and I was a super fan for it but the more I read the more I just want to toss my hand in the air. It's still salvageable but the whole Matrix satire thing is throwing it off. There's another story that's like this which I had to stop reading cuz it was just so toxic and dumb, it is about this girl who's cheating on her boyfriend in order to score love scores because some dude is her God or something and tells her she doesn't score enough love points she will die? And I was like, so basically she has to put herself through physical assault because she's really not ready for a relationship in that level, in order to live?, that's not right for me. She's not even having a choice. The dude basically like smashes her and I barely hear her say yes. That's the whole thing of it. It started off as a beautiful story but it's getting more and more toxic and the only positive meal figure that's handsome I think would be great for her, is a side character that not even this author is considering. If she wanted to break these so-called rules, run off with a butler. What is the author going to do? Make her not fall in love? With the butler dude?
... are we reading the same story? The FL cannot do things that disrupt the original story. No, she cannot run off with the butler, she is still needed as the "villain" so the events still happen (and neither the butler or Edith are interested? What are you on about...). We saw that if she tried telling others about the "evil plans" she would fall unconscious for 2 days, THATS were we learn about the rules, which you probably skimmed through bc you're not even giving the story a chance :/
There's boundaries to what she can and cannot do as she still is a prop to make blondie look good, and there are multiple occasions where Edith reflects on this... thats why I feel as you're just being a hater! Are we reading the same story?? What do you mean "keep taking abuse" if she told people about it she would fall unconscious!!! The rules are "convenient" because the author has to comply with the system and is acting according to what's currently happening inside the story. If you see her to be so pitiful why don't you take her side?

MAJOR SPOILER:
The third exception is: Do not resist your fated death. She has to give up the will to live close to the end of the story, during the scene where Killian executes her for her villainous deeds. She does exactly that. At that point, a quick death was the best she dared to hope for. Fortunately, Killain refuses to kill her. He protects her and helps prove her innocence. Thus she completely breaks the author's control.

Yeah also, she can’t let them know she’s been abused by her family, since they’ll just get rid of her. If they find out that she has no value as a hostage etc, they would have no reason to keep her there. Vice versa, her biological dad would probably also get rid of her once she’s useless too. That’s why Killeon didn’t reveal her abuse after the maid incident.
I wouldn't take them seriously, they just seem like a massive troll or just a hater who barely paid attention to the story and tries badly to nitpick the story.

No take me seriously because I'm reading this from the perspective of a reader. My opinion may not be as fluffy clouds and candy cane wishes as yours, because that's a real frustration that I'm expressing. Which is just as valid and constructive as your positive little inputs. I'd rather be for real than for fake sake. My constructive criticism is, female characters here need work. Also when you're made to smash booty in order to break rules, is what I'm getting a hint at because none of that other rules you guys are mentioning, are clearly expressed. Bro we’re saying you’re not reading it because you keep mentioning points that ARE explained. Like, we even told you that sleeping together is NOT what the exceptions are. If you read it and comprehended it like a normal person, you would get that. MC LITERALLY ASKED THE SAME QUESTION BEFORE THE SYSTEM TOLD THEM WHAT THE SECOND EXCEPTION WAS.
The second exception was when she declined his invitations to hang out/go out for 10 times in a row. It was made cause the author thought there would be no way someone would ACTUALLY reject the second male lead 10 times in a row. It’s literally explained in the chapter. That’s why we’re not taking you seriously, since you’re basically not even trying to actually read it. It’s not a problem of it being too “implicit” since the story LITERALLY spells it out for you. You literally have to be blind or willfully ignorant to miss it!
Every exception so far has been explained, and her sleeping with him has NOTHING to do with it. They just coincidentally slept together during the second exception cause ml was jealous and misunderstood mc again. The first was also a coincidence as the event she ended up following was an event that led to her sleeping with ML.
