
You do have a point but I don't think Riftan's approach is appropriate because treating a child this restrictively would just lead to a rebellious child who gets them selves to to even more trouble as soon as you look away (which I think equates perfectly to Maxi's actions that put herself in danger)
Even children need to be guided with respect for them to properly learn so of course this would also apply to Maxi who is a grown adult
I just think that if Maxi were a man, even a weak and foolish man who gets into trouble, I don't think she'd be treated the same.
(With all that said, I do think Riftan is improving in this regard, albeit slowly)
Riftan’s right, Maxi. People can’t give you praise if you’re dead. Anything you decide to do will get you killed. He wants you to grow a brain. It’s your own fault he now treats you like a child, despite being an adult.
