Call me ridiculous but I hate that it had to go to the 'character is hurt' trope. It forces the other one to do something. It's an emotional choice. I rather prefer a scenario where a character chooses to confront an issue head on rather than be instigated by circumstance. The whole 'character is hurt/sick/dying' plot device doesn't quite work for me anymore (눈‸눈)
