is it just me or does this story have way too many plot holes

theyre huge, but from my understanding this was some of the first works serialized for both the artist and writer. Not that it makes reading any less unsatisfying or confusing, like where the fuck did the one antagonist group go? where did syons friend from the start go? etc, etc, but hopefully they took it as a learning step type of thing.
