I mean yeah, but I do get it to some degree. I'm pansexual and I've met plenty of people with internalized homophobia. Different issue but I also know a guy that used to be racist against immigrants even though he's an immigrant himself and plenty of people with internalized transphobia or misogyny. It depends a lot on the environment that people grow up in and the people around them. When you face discrimination your whole life and are surrounded by homophobia you start internalizing it. Most queer people go through it to some degree. To add to that, as a neurodivergent person myself, I feel like he's on the spectrum. He bases all of his views on logic that can be backed up by science, that's how he functions. So when he has an issue that can't be explained by that logic, because it doesn't have an answer, he shuts down. It takes time to break down those beliefs that he's built his whole life. I don't think he's homophobic, I just think he doesn't understand the logic behind it and he can't wrap his head around the fact that love simply doesn't have logic. :)
