It was the way he said it. He said it very defensively saying "I'm not like you" as if being gay was a bad thing. Plus the scene just very much brought back trauma haedam had already experienced. It isn't like he called the dude homophobic he just didn't want to go through the same thing he already did so he's distancing himself. Didn't think it was that hard to understand.

If ch18 was heedam’s pov, what he actually heard him say was, “I don’t have a thing for other dudes”. The math wasn’t mathing for me, hence I agree with the OP’s statement. I can understand why he would think that way due to past experiences and the way he said it, but i still see it as a reach. Like 1+1=11 no explanation, just assumptions. He won’t give Hoon a chance to explain but isn’t suspicious of Namu basically outing him without his consent.

I'm not saying namu has any right interfering but I do think, given the fact that it immediately brought up past trauma is enough to trigger someone into not wanting to hear an explanation. Like not only did he say "I don't have a thing for other dudes" but he was grabbing Namu by the shirt when he said that. Could very easily be seen as something else. Now Haedam is sick and it hasn't even been that long since. All I'm saying is it's a little harsh to not give him any time to process his own emotions before he feels ready to hear Hoon out. And I think it's unfair to infer that his idea is that "gay dudes can't be friends with straight dudes". That wasn't even close to the situation.

I didn't add this i wish i could edit comments in mangago ugh anyways it makes sense to me why he would put his blind faith in namu (who it seems "saved" him from his homophobic bullies) whereas he is immediately wary of a seemingly straight person (in his eyes and from what he heard) who just found out he was gay. Most people will believe people they're close with over someone they just met. That's just human nature. We can see from an outsiders perspective everything that's going on so it's easy to criticize but my point is I think the judgement of Haedam is a bit much so early.
