The last panel relate to me so much. Sometimes I watch movies and see how the actors show affection or empathy to each other and I'd cry. Not because I was moved but bcs I realized how starved I am of that kind of affection and have never been treated kindly like that. Now about the story, I think MC is also feeling the same thing. Hearing the right words from the wrong person can easily sway your ground.
