Or maybe the king was so miserable he couldn’t stand the Queen showing signs of happiness? I think Ercella’s sister was just smiling towards Harsen b/c he used to bring ercella’s letters and messages to the queen

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. But maybe it's actually an angsty plot where the pitiful empress envys her youngest sister for her marriage and husband lol. I don't really care either way, if she loved him then that's just more pain Eshahilde caused for the emperor and I'm all for that bastard's suffering!
