Riftan is my favourite male lead but I agree with you that’s he’s in between green and red, he does display some toxic traits. He ain’t perfect but his love is pure.
A yandere can say his love is pure but the way his actions show through says otherwise. Riftan needs to start listening. If you truly love someone, you will respect their wishes no matter what you think.
Have you read the novel and his point of view? I’ll not defend his shortcoming in anyway but reading his book helps you understand why he’s the way he is. Needless to say there’s a lot of things he’ll have to work on. The beauty of this book is that you get to witness two imperfect people overcoming their weakness and grow as a character.
I did not care about his POV or the future chapters, the way he's treating Maxi right now is getting on my nerves. As a reader, this is what I feel right now. It might change however if you are saying there would be a development in the future. You seem to love this story which I can respect.
I read it and thought that maxi seemed to be his obsession and precious coping mechanism
His love doesnt seem pure to me becasue he loves maxi not as who she actually is as a person but who he thinks she is and who he wants her to be and what her existence means and does for him.

Nah coz everyone is talking about how Riftan is one of the top ten green flags in tiktok or Instagram doesn't know what a green flag is. Riftan is between red and green ╮(￣▽￣)╭ He's also not on my best male leads list. He's just very good looking, tan and buff. But just like any other male leads in old shoujo, he's controlling af which is fantasized by many girls.
