I think the author did wanted it to be a dad-son story but majority of the fans want it to be a romance that's why we see this deviation from father-son to "son having feelings for father" thing in side stories.

Also please don't complain about the GL version because the author was PAID on this one. And in a *general way* people associate skincare with females.

I feel like the author is experimenting with different versions of the story to reach and satisfy all types of her audience. So, if you don't like it that doesn't mean others don't like it too.
