I honestly expected it to happen since it is ntr, I believe the novel goes more in depth with beta feelings and how he felt outcasted by the alpha. But the author definitely wrote this to justify the cheating

Now we can clarify and state that they both cheated, even tho the alpha has done it more, the beta decided to not refuse sunbae so they’re both at fault…that’s yaoi/omegaverse math
