For money ! They were broke falling royalty. Ash sold Violet and disband royalty to stay afflot and make a grand gesture to gain favorability but in his head it was just temporary. So basically, Winter bought his right to be married to Violet and in the same time some power which he was lacking because he was a Kanic and Ash did that for money and to make a greater come back which he miserably failed haha.

Oh, thanks for the explanation! Because I thought that if he only wanted money then he already got it whether or not he disbanded the royalty. But I guess the money will be going into royal treasury instead of his own pocket huh.. And maybe he despised Winter so it's like two birds with one stone for him lol

The royal family was heavily in debt after some failed reforms. People were on the verge of riot anyway. So that is why Violet was sold - to pay off debt and that is why Ash actually didn't get money. And he disbanded royalty not to impower Winter and Violet who now were commonas even if rich. So he got rid of Violet as a potential rival by denying Winter the title and making Violet like a commoner too in one move. Then all other crimes; stealing Violet's money and drug dealing were all to earn money for his come back as king.
