I understand ines bec all the men she had in her life wronged her in different ways than one so i kinda get why she’s like this. I really hope she gets some time off, reflect and heal herself. She is too broken that she cant even trust herself. She’s too focused on surviving and the plot that she loses her sense of self that She doesnt see Carcel’s love. Ik that this story would have a good ending but this also serve as a good representation of people who had traumatic heart breaks and with people trust issues.

I have news for you. Ines was a cold and difficult person even before she experienced those tragedies. The problem is, most manhwa readers do not know her character. Ines says she’s a little mean because she takes after both her parents who are a little mean. The story will eventually reveal scenes of her before her tragedies, if manhwa include them, and the reader will see how difficult she can be as a person. A lot of readers see her current self and thinks she was never difficult. Even as a kid before her tragedies in a previous timeline, she was playing mind games. She was arrogant, self-centered, and competitive.

They’re absolutely failing miserably. To begin with, the novel is very complicated because the characters are nuanced and Inés is an extremely complicated character. She’s the most complicated character followed by her mother then her father. Ines is extremely stubborn, rigid, noble, arrogant and in some cases, hot blooded and violent. There is a hidden life where most who read it find her unlikeable although there are valid reasons why she made herself and her husband miserable. In that life, I would say that her stubbornness was unparalleled and her mother messed her up mentally.
As far as the current timeline, the manhwa fails absolutely at portraying a nuanced Ines. Ines was in fact fine for ten years in this life. When she woke up she persuaded herself that she was too small to have ever had a child and her brother was just a boy who couldn’t kill a man. In that way she lived basically fine until she turned 16 and her mind involuntarily took a turn and she was tormented say and night for four years. Author says it’s because she’s like a murderer that cannot get out f her guilt for even a moment.
Then she turned 23 years old and needed to marry so she showed up in front of Carcel to basically remind him they’re far past the marriage age. After she begins living with Carcel, there are light moments that the manhwa left out that shows Ines is actually being lulled into learning to live again. She and Carcel get along for the most part. There are even moments where she says if she didn’t have her plan, she could just settle into her life with him. There are also hints along the way that she feels bad when she thinks of him having dinner in their house with the new woman she wanted him to meet. Ines even laughs in Calztela. A novel fan did a tweet thread on Twitter showing all the moments Ines has laughed with Carcel even before thus current chapter. Manhwa cut all of them so manhwa Ines simply appears as a depressed woman or a fake wife or an annoyed woman.
Now that manhwa has reached the climax of her plan, there is nothing to look back on to show the reader how Ines was changing. In the novel, we knew her thoughts so we know she’d been experiencing conflicted emotions for a while now. In any case, even the Tappytoon novel cut out information. The best way to read the novel is the original Korean version that doesn’t cut stuff and doesn’t rely on the interpretation of a translator. The author’s words are the best because they give the full truth of the story.

Thank you for sharing and explaining that! Somewhere along the updates, the story slowly began feeling "off" to me. I'm not sure if this is an effective analogy and a good representation, but the story progression in the manhwa is like a car that has slowly driven off the main road and on to the road-shoulder, swerving left and right and farther away from the main path. As if the essence of the story got lost somewhere. Hopefully this won't last long.

The true author already developed her in the novel. The manhwa storyteller is another story. She doesn’t seem to grasp Ines complicated character so all manhwa readers are left with is a depressed and sometimes fake wife. Ines in the novel acts like a human being. Human beings adapt to their circumstances and Ines is no different. Sure she plots divorce but even she says sometimes she forgets because she was being lulled into normal and relaxing life by Carcel’s overprotective care, the people who surround her and the safety of her home in Calztela. That’s the whole point of the Calztela arc. Ines begins to live like a person without realizing it. When she does catch herself betraying her plan, she puts herself on guard, make excuses for her changing feelings, and begins to plot anew. Unfortunately in the manhwa, they focused primarily on her divorce plot and cut out all the other moments that she and Carcel were getting along so it’s hard to believe Ines has been changing. Like I said above, Ines is so normal by the beginning of the side story that is essentially the end of the main story.
I feel so bad for both of them like my girl need a good healing time after suffering sm in her past lives which has caused her to turn into this cold hearted mess with her complex ptsd in the current tl
to act like this and treat carcel in such way.
I hope she allow herself to be vulnerable and trust carcel words for once!! ik it would take time for her but ik she would be grateful to him in current tl and past too when he helped her and her lover that time and risking his life and going against royal family
and ik carcel it surely hurts to confess and tell her so many times that you just love her but she is not understanding it it's ok she will soon understand your feelings too, your feelings are valid so dw
I can't wait for the chapters where things get starts clearing between them and ines realise her feelings for him please i need both of them happy.
