I think its okay for Tia to be Empress and still have power to control the family like (now) Empress. She is not the head of family but she did her job to monopolize everything under her family name. What she did is dirty but still work well.
And for me future Tia become an Empress mean other grandchild of grandpa still have a chance since not all of them is idiot. I'd love to see other grandchild show their potential to be head family and have a good sibling rivalry for the position.
This issue will be solve at the later end of the novel ^^

After perez becomes emperor he will change the law to allow tia to be BOTH the empress and the matriarch of the family so it will all work out fine in the end ^^

I'm not sure how to feel about their growing relationship. Sure they look good together, but they work towards different goals, Tia wants to be the matriarch of the Lombardies and Perez, the Emperor. And if they were to marry, Tia would become the Empress, but couldn't be the matriarch at the same time...
