No it's not a bad different. I actually like the way this is playing out, the characters are getting more depth to them, there are even more characters than those that appeared in the novel. The novel is told mainly from Perry's point of view, so the scenes in this story where Perry isn't there, don't happen. I think the story will go in a similar direction to the novel with just added scenes to give Perry and Theo's relationship time to grow/develop as well as added character growth, more story plot etc.
