Would Inés agree with you?

I see all these posts trying to justify everything Inés does by her past “trauma”. Does Inés even think like you? No, she doesn’t. Inés has pretty much moved on from her past with Oscar. She even says a little later that her past with Oscar is like reading a book because the feelings about that life are so distant. Even in this dream, what the manhwa doesn’t tell the reader is that Inés Escalante was watching Inés Valenza as an observer. She even acted as though that life had nothing to do with her current self.

Furthermore, Inés needs to acknowledge when she’s wrong in order to change. Fortunately she’s not like people who think she’s always right. Since she’s not like that, she will get character development and become a self that she can love and anyone who wants the best for her would look forward to her learning to love herself. Right now she cannot love herself as she is and that’s why she has said before that Carcel deserves better.

    No.
The majority of these posts do not justify Inēs actions with her trauma. We are all aware of her wrongdoings and so is Inēs. They are simply reminding everyone who is insulting her and name calling, that she is not perfect and wont always make the right decisions. Its not an exucse, but a cause and effect.

And how can you frame dissociation as 'moved on from her past with Oscar'? The fact she viewed her past as if 'like reading a book' should've tipped you off that soemthing was wrong. She didn't refer to any other memory that way, just the one with Oscar.

She is completely removing herself mentally from the situation. She doesnt want to be the Inēs that was married to Oscar, so she's treating it like it's someone else. Because what he did to her is not something you can move on from just because you lived two other lifetimes. She never healed or recovered from the first life, which is why it's taking so long for her to love Carcel.

I don’t pretend to be a mental health professional like many of you. I’m also stating what she said in the novel. So I’m taking it from exactly what she said.

Also, I find it so curious that in the author’s own discussion of her novel, not once has she ever mentally diagnosed Inés or blame her past for the way she treated Carcel. Author comes right out, every time, whether on Twitter or her Naver blog, and state what Ines did to Carcel was wrong and both her main characters are flawed people. I also loved that she says that it doesn’t matter who blames them…(I won’t finish the rest of her statement) I just love how she stands up for both her characters and also state her story is not for everyone. Very unapologetic in this day and age.
