Personally, I think it’s good that she divorced him, because the relationship wasn’t healthy to begin with (what with ogv lying to marry the Duke, and the Duke ignoring the abuse she suffered). While it is good that he apologized, there was too much history to really make it right (I mean the girl sacrificed herself to save the kid). In terms of the child, she hasn’t completely abandoned him, as he can go see her whenever and she helps him when she can. I’m sure if he wasn’t the family heir, she would have taken him with her.
