The novel translations are free on Knoxt or just check novelupdates. The following volume (vol 2 onwards) won’t be tragic and is actually really good and interesting. Hope you give it a chance.

If you read the last chapter ‘Trapped in Living Hell’ you get to read his thoughts about Aelock. He pretty much feels that Aelock wasn’t suffering enough… it’s much more detailed, and it’s honestly heartbreaking.
